Description

This is a row of six cottages, numbered 232 to 240, built around 1815 on Bradford Road, Scholemoor/Clayton. The cottages are constructed of sandstone, which is dressed to resemble brickwork. A band marks the sill level of the first floor. Numbers 238 and 240 are slightly higher than the rest of the row. The roof is covered with stone slates and has block brackets supporting the eaves. Stone chimneys are present. Each cottage has two square mullion windows with flush frames on each floor, plus a single-light window above the plain doorway. The cottages demonstrate group value as a cohesive example of early 19th-century housing.
