Description
No 28A, built in 1835 as the Salem Chapel and now used as a clinic, features a striking Greek Revival design in ashlar sandstone. The building is two storeys high with a five-bay front that has a slight batter to the quoin pilasters. It has a full-width block modelled pediment and large plain acroteria. The central three bays project slightly below the pediment. The entrance is a tripartite composition with sidelights flanked by pilasters and engaged, partly fluted, Ionic columns surrounding the doorway, topped with a deep entablature and a pediment. The flanking bays contain windows with battered, eared, flat surrounds. There are seven windows on the side elevations, also in similar surrounds. The east gable end features a pediment and a full-height segmental bow for the apse of the front chapel.
