Description
Sams Mill by Middle Brook is a water mill that was rebuilt around 1820-1830, following an earlier structure. It has an L-shaped plan and stands three storeys tall, constructed from thin sandstone bricks. The building features some slate roofs with corbelled eaves, and the west range has coped gable ends. On the south gable, there are small lunettes flanking a round-headed hatchway. The south side includes single and two-storey extensions with squared jamb windows. The east gable end has two small round-headed lights, which are cut from a single block, positioned below and beside the central windows in the gable. The mill still retains its housed undershot wheel and gearing.
