Description

These are seven cottages located on the west side of Farra Street, Keighley, built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. They are constructed of coursed millstone grit with stone slate roofs, and include stone stacks, with the stack at number 2 rebuilt in brick. The cottages are two storeys high and have one or two bays each.

The west elevation features flat-faced mullion windows set in flush stone surrounds. Numbers 2 and 4 are of one build, with number 4 stepped slightly higher. Number 2 has a 20th-century pent porch to the left gable and a four-light window on each floor. Number 4 is two bays wide, with a 20th-century gabled porch to the right, a four-light window on the ground floor, and a three-light and a four-light window above. Numbers 6 and 8 are part of one build, with number 8 stepped up. Number 6 has a rear entrance and two four-light windows on each floor. Number 8 has a blocked doorway and a formerly four-light window on the ground floor, with two three-light windows above, and shaped kneelers and coping to the left.

Numbers 10 and 12 form one house, now divided into two dwellings, and are three bays wide, with quoins. The symmetrical front elevation has five steps leading to a central board door set in a flush stone surround with interrupted jambs, and an inserted door for number 10 to the left. There are three-light windows with raised central lintels in bays one and three on both floors. A round-arched window with a keystone and impost blocks sits above the door. Number 14 is a single bay with quoins to the right end, a gable entry, a four-light window on the ground floor, and a two-light window above, incorporating shaped kneelers and coping to the right.
