Description
Silsden Bridge is a road bridge over the River Aire, built in the late 18th century. It was widened to the west in the mid-20th century, reusing the original voussoirs and cut-waters. The bridge is likely the work of Bernard Hartley, who was the County Surveyor of Bridges around 1790. It is constructed of ashlar stone, with concrete used for the intrados of the 20th-century extension. The bridge features three segmental arches with rusticated voussoirs and pointed cut-waters. It has abutments, a band, and a parapet with circular end piers topped with hemispherical caps.
