Description
This building is a barn or coach-house located 12 meters northeast of the High Hall, dating from the early 18th century with additions from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins and features a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of five bays.
The original facade is symmetrical with three bays, highlighted by a projecting gabled bay that includes a tall cart entry with a shouldered lintel. Above this entry is a three-light double-chamfered mullioned window, and the gable is coped with kneelers and ball finials. On either side of the central bay are doorways with composite jambs and chamfered surrounds, although the left doorway has been blocked. The outer bays each have a two-light window on both floors, all of which are fitted with latticed glazing.
To the left, two additional bays were added, which feature matching windows and a doorway with monolithic jambs. These gables are also coped with kneelers and topped with spiked finials. Inside, the barn boasts a six-bay fish-bone king-post roof.
