Description
This is a terrace of workers' houses with a lodging house at the north end, constructed by 1854 as part of the Saltaire model village. The buildings were designed by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt. They are built of hammer-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof. The terrace comprises 14 to 22 Amelia Street, and includes Noll Albert Terrace, and comprises of an end house projecting forward, and the rest of the terrace being two-storey, with each house having one bay. The end house is three storeys high. Each house has a plain entrance and a single window to each floor; some later bathroom windows have been inserted. Paired stone brackets support the gutter. The end house features a round-arched, archivolted opening at ground floor level, a square-headed first-floor opening on a sill band, and wooden gutter brackets, alongside a hipped roof. The left return elevation has two bays mirroring the front facade. The right gable end was previously adjacent to wash-houses, which have now been demolished. The end house is more elaborate in design to reflect its visual importance to Albert Terrace.
