Description
The Church of St Paul is a small church built between 1840 and 1842, featuring a nave and a short chancel. It is constructed from plain coursed sandstone with quoins and has a stone slate roof. The west gable end includes a corbelled external chimney-cum-bellcot. The steep gabled south porch has a stone slate roof with a saddlestone, colonettes supporting a pointed arch, and a drip mould with carved stops. The nave is adorned with six pairs of fairly broad lancet windows, each with linked drip moulds. The church was built by W R C Stansfield, who was residing at Esholt Hall at the time, and it was formerly known as St Paul's School.
