Description
This is a barn located approximately 10 metres southeast of the house at Peas Bloom. It is likely from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The barn is cruck-framed and constructed from rubble gritstone, topped with a stone slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan, featuring a two-bay main range and an additional two-bay range that projects forward on the right end. The barn is a single storey.
The main range includes a garage door on the right and a wood casement window on the left, with a boarded hatch above it. The gabled wing on the right has a window above a later lean-to extension, which is not of special interest. There are large altered openings on each return of the barn. On the left return of the main range, a cruck truss is partly exposed. Inside the main range, there are three pairs of cruck trusses, with the left truss embedded in the wall. One wall tie beam has been removed, and there are windbraces supporting the single purlins, with collars below the diagonal-set ridge. The wing also features another altered cruck truss.
