Description

This is a late 18th century Methodist New Connexion chapel with an attached hall and boundary wall, later converted into offices. The chapel was built in 1828, the hall in 1896, with additions in the mid-19th century and alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings, featuring gabled and hipped slate roofs with a single coped side wall stack.

The chapel, located to the right, has two storeys and five windows per floor. It features a plinth, a first floor band, a sillband, an eaves cornice, a coped parapet, and a shaped tablet inscribed "Methodist New Connexion Chapel 1828". The windows have round heads with keystones, and late 20th century glazing. The front elevation has a moulded central doorcase with a pediment and 20th century glazed doors with an overlight, flanked by windows with moulded heads and keystones. The right return has five windows on each floor, with the ground floor windows blocked. The left return has four windows and connects with the attached hall. The east end features two stained glass windows and two irregular, three-story polygonal additions with a side wall stack.

The attached hall, to the left, is one and two storeys high and has three windows by eight windows. The canted west end features a first floor sillband, an eaves cornice, and sash windows with fanlights and moulded round heads, keystones, and imposts. The left return has similar windows, and the ground floor includes a six-panel door with an overlight and a larger doorway with an inscribed granite lintel. To the left is a single-story hall with a plinth, a cornice, and a coped parapet. To the right is a section with four round-headed sash windows, a pedimented doorcase with a pulvinated frieze inscribed "Hall," and a blocked door. Above the doorcase is a half-round window and a wrought-iron lamp bracket.

The interior has not been inspected. Outside the west ends, a brick boundary wall extends approximately 25 meters, featuring curved ends, chamfered stone coping, and 20th century brick gate piers and gates.
