Description

Kutrite Works is a mid-19th century cutlery works located on Snow Lane in Sheffield, which was extended in 1902 for Ernest Wright and underwent alterations in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick with painted ashlar dressings and features slate roofs, including a large transverse ridge stack, a smaller front wall stack, and two gable stacks. It is two and three storeys high and has a 13-window range.

To the right, there is a two-storey office range with two pedimented bays, each containing two 12-pane sash windows set on a moulded sillband with brackets. Below this, on the left, is a segment-arched cart entrance that has an inscribed keystone with the works' name and double board doors. To the right of the entrance is a round-arched window with a boarded fanlight, followed by a round-arched flush door with a fanlight.

The main block to the left features sillbands on the upper floors, five round-arched glazing bar sashes, and above them, five 2-light glazing bar casements. The ground floor has three shuttered windows on the left and a double board door on the right. There is a slightly lower entrance bay in the same style to the left, which has two round-arched windows and two smaller glazing bar casements above. Below this bay is an altered cart entrance with a steel lintel and roller shutter.

Further left, there is a three-storey block with a 3-light glazing bar casement on the left and a half-glazed loft door on the right. Above this are two 3-light glazing bar casements. The ground floor features a window with board shutters, flanked on the left by a segment-headed doorway with a concrete lintel and on the right by a larger window with triple board shutters and a wooden lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
