Description
The Crimean War Memorial, located in the Botanical Gardens, was erected in 1858 and designed by G Goldie. The memorial features a large seated figure of Victory, which holds a bronze wreath and shield, along with a Latin inscription on its base. It stands on a coped square pedestal with diagonal flanking piers and an inscribed tablet. The memorial is set on a circular base that includes a combined railing and seat. In 1960, the memorial was resited and reduced in size from its original location at Moorhead.
