Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 25 metres south-south-east of Kimberworth Manor House, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rubble sandstone, with some areas rendered, and features a stone slate roof. The building is small and square, standing two storeys high, with a single window on the first floor. It has quoins and a large ground-floor opening of a later date that includes boarded doors and a wooden lintel. The first-floor opening has a stone ledge and a panel with pigeon holes beneath a casement window that has glazing bars. The structure displays eroded kneelers and square-cut gable copings, along with a later wooden lantern on the ridge. At the rear, there are steps leading from a higher ground level to a door framed in dressed stone. On the left side, there is a ledge beneath a blocked first-floor opening. Inside, the original floor construction remains, and there are nesting holes with ledges built into the loft walls. Attached outbuildings are not of special interest.
