Description
Oak House is a farmhouse dated 1682, with alterations made in the 18th century and an extension added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone and has a renewed pantile roof. The building stands two storeys high with attics and features a layout of one bay on the right and three bays in the central section, with an outshut to the rear right.
The original part of the house, located on the right, has large quoins. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed door set in an ashlar surround with a moulded arris, flanked by 9-pane casement windows that have glazing bars, projecting sills, and flat arches with raised keystones. On the first floor, there are similar windows, with the central window featuring leaded lights and positioned beneath a panel that reads 'OAK HOUSE / FARM / AD 1682', along with a 6-pane casement window with a matching surround beneath a one-bay gable.
To the left, there is an added bay that includes a glazed door beneath a flat arch with a keystone, positioned to the left of a 6-pane casement window on each floor, with surrounds that match the outer bays. The building is finished with shaped kneelers and gable copings at each end of the range, along with brick stacks at the ends and a ridge stack at the left end of the original three-bay house.
