Description

The lock at Strawberry Lock is a river lock built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of stone and features a rectangular chamber that measures approximately 12 feet wide by 20 feet long. The chamber has indents for gates at both ends, although the gates are now missing. There are also remains of chamfered copings. A later stone bridge has been built over the northern end of the lock. This structure is part of the Don Navigation, which began around 1750. At the time of the resurvey, the lock was disused and partly derelict.
