Description
Nos. 23 and 25 West Avenue are a pair of semi-detached houses built in 1908 by Percy Houfton for the Brodsworth Colliery Company. The houses are constructed of roughcast with a later cement-tile roof and stand two storeys tall. The first floor features a window arrangement of 1:2:1, creating a reflected pair. The wooden casements throughout have glazing bars. No. 25, which is on the left, has an old door that is flanked on the left by a three-light window and on the right by windows of one and three lights. The first floor has three-light windows, with the central ones positioned beneath a gable. The houses have swept eaves and dentilled brick end stacks that are corbelled from the gables, along with a matching central ridge stack. These houses are part of the Woodlands colliery village.
