Description

A pair of semi-detached houses of 1908, built by Percy Houfton for the Brodsworth Colliery Company as part of the Woodlands colliery village. The ground floor is of brick, with roughcast above, and a later cement-tile roof. The houses are two storeys with a 2:2 window arrangement to the first floor, creating a reflected pair. They feature wooden casements with glazing bars throughout. Number 29, on the left, has an original boarded front door flanked by a three-light window to the left and a four-light window to the right, with a tile dripcourse. The first floor has two four-light windows with a dripcourse across the gable, decorated with a motif of squares. Number 27 is similar but the window arrangement is reversed. The eaves are swept, and there are brick end stacks corbelled from the gables, with a central ridge stack, all rendered. The stack to the right is now rendered.
