Description
This tomb chest, dating from the early 14th century, is located approximately 3 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of St. Katharine. It is made of ashlar magnesian limestone and features a chamfered plinth. The tapered chest is richly decorated on all sides with various Decorated tracery motifs, including both cusped and plain intersecting tracery as well as geometrical designs. The covering slab is notable for bearing a raised sword, making this a remarkable survival from its period.
