Description
This is a barn and cowhouse with a hayloft, located approximately 35 metres to the north-west of Plane Tree Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century and has been altered over time. The building is constructed from limestone rubble and features stone slate eaves courses beneath a pantile roof. It has an L-shaped plan, with a tall, single-storey, 9-bay barn forming one limb. The barn has large quoins and triangular slit vents, as well as opposed cart entries that have quoined dressings and segmental arches added later. The gable ends have copings.
To the right, there is a two-storey cowhouse range with rendered walls. This section includes three ground-floor doorways and external steps leading to a loft door near the junction with the barn. There are three casement windows to the right of the steps and three small openings at the eaves. The roof has been renewed with pantiles.
Inside, the barn features collared principal-rafter trusses with double purlins. The attached farm buildings are not considered to have special interest.
