Description
The Priory is a building that now serves as local authority offices, originally constructed as a house in the early to mid-19th century. It features ruled stucco and a Welsh slate roof. The structure is two stories high with a three-bay front and a wing at the rear that projects beyond the right side. The design includes giant end pilasters and raised central bays. Access is provided by rectangular stone steps leading to a central door, which has a fanlight and is set within a doorcase that features a keyed archivolt and a modillioned pediment. Each of the outer bays has a canted bay window with sash windows and a modillioned cornice. On the first floor, there is a plain central sash window with a projecting sill in a segmentally-arched recess that rises from the doorcase, while the outer bays have similar paired sashes. The cornice breaks forward over the ends and center, situated beneath a parapet with balustraded panels above each bay. The roof is hipped, with chimney stacks located at the rear, where it meets the lower wing, and on the ridge of the rear wing.
