Description
Nos 1 and 3 Peel Square are shop and office premises built in 1857 by E. G. Tasker. The building is constructed of dressed stone and features a Welsh slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has seven bays, showcasing an Italianate style.
A square-headed carriage entrance is located at the centre-right, framed by rusticated jambs. To the left, there are 20th-century shop frontages, while to the right, two blind windows sit on a moulded plinth band. The ground floor has a frieze and a modillion cornice. The first-floor windows are round-arched and archivolted, complete with keystones. The sash windows on the left include glazing bars, while the second-floor windows are square-headed with raised sills and unequal sashes, with the left ones also featuring glazing bars. The building is topped with a heavy modillioned moulded eaves cornice and has three stone stacks, with the two on the right retaining modillion cornices. There are also later 20th-century dormers on the right side.
