Description

Barncroft, located at Darley Cliff, is a farmbuilding that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and underwent conversion in the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed, dressed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays, with a later single-storey garage addition on the right side. The building has large quoins and three ground-floor doorways that have chamfered quoins and lintels, flanking 20th-century casements with glazing bars set in the original window openings. To the right, there are two more 20th-century casements and two additional ones in the single-storey addition. On the first floor, there are three square surrounds to chamfered oculi, which now have central-pivoted casements. A 20th-century stack is present on the left side, and the rear has been re-windowed. The building is included for its group value.
