Description
No. 5 Bishopgate Street is a house built around 1830 to 1835, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof. It stands two storeys high, plus an attic, and features two bays. The windows are fitted with modern aluminium frames, and the attic is illuminated by a flat-roofed dormer added in the 20th century.
The entrance, located in the right-hand bay, is framed by a doorcase that includes engaged fluted columns and a frieze with panels defined by raised borders. Above the six-panel door, there is a plain rectangular overlight. The timber gutter is supported by paired brackets, and there is an axial chimney positioned towards the left, behind the ridge. The interior has not been inspected.
