Description
The Deanery is a house built in 1938-1939 by architects Rutherford and Symes. It features a red brick construction with ashlar dressings, plain tile hipped roofs, and four brick stacks. The exterior includes a moulded brick plinth, rusticated brick quoins, and a brick dentilled band at the first floor. The building is two storeys high with a seven-window front, consisting of a five-window centre and slightly projecting single window wings. The central doorway has a panel door and fanlight, framed by an ashlar surround with Roman columns and an open pediment. On either side of the doorway are two 15-pane sash windows. Above the doorway is a central 16-pane sash flanked by two 12-pane sashes. Each wing has a broad 20-pane sash on the ground floor and a broad 16-pane sash above, with the upper windows flanked by blind circular panels. There is an irregular service wing at the rear right. The interior has not been inspected.
