Description

No. 2 and No. 3 Belle Vue Terrace are three houses, now used as houses and flats, built in the mid-19th century and altered in the 20th century. They are constructed of brick with painted stone or stucco dressings and feature a slate roof that is hipped to the right, facing Heslington Road.

The exterior consists of two storeys with an attic and basement, arranged in six bays. The facade includes a rendered basement storey, with sill bands on the ground and first floors, and a dentilled and modillioned gutter cornice. The first and third bays have 20th-century basement windows with doors to their left, while the fourth and fifth bays have smaller 20th-century basement windows. The upper storey windows are glazing bar sashes, and on the ground floor, they are adorned with moulded architraves. To the right of the third bay, there is an attic dormer featuring shaped bargeboards and a sashed window with a segmental head. The second and fourth bays have doorways with architraves and cornices supported by console brackets. The doors are divided, with six raised and fielded panels, and plain rectangular overlights. There are ridge chimneys located to the left, between the second and third bays, and between the fourth and fifth bays.

The right-hand return wall, facing Heslington Road, consists of three bays and is treated similarly to the main facade. However, the left-hand bay features a single-storey canted bay window that is sashed and has a cornice linked to the cornice hood of the central doorway. This hood is supported by console brackets, and the doorway includes an architrave, a rectangular overlight, and a divided four-panel door. The interior has not been inspected.
