Description
No. 5 Bridge Street is a public house that has been converted into a shop. It was built between 1840 and 1850 and has undergone some later alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond, featuring a stucco frieze, eaves cornice, and a parapet, topped with a hipped pantile roof.
The exterior is three stories high with a two-window front. It has a double shopfront with panelled pilasters and a dentil cornice supported by grooved brackets. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor has unequal 9-pane sash windows, all with painted stone sills and flat arches above. The building also has a flat eaves band, a moulded cornice, and a plain parapet that obscures the roof. On the right side, there are rainwater goods featuring a rectangular hopper and fleur-de-lys clamps. The interior has not been inspected.
