Description

This is a font, now serving as a garden ornament, located approximately 25 metres east of Waterton Hall Farmhouse. It is likely from the late 12th century and constructed from ashlar stone. The font is cylindrical with a plain roll-moulded rim, resting on a cylindrical shaft that has a roll-moulded foot. It stands about 60 centimetres tall and is positioned in the centre of a flower bed filled with plants. It is probably originally from Luddington Church, which contained a significant amount of 12th-century work before its rebuilding in the mid-19th century.
