Description

These are three attached 18th or early 19th century brick cottages on Whitecross Street. The building has two storeys and a pantile roof, hipped to the street frontage, with a diagonal-set brick eaves cornice. There are two brick stacks. The windows are flush hung sashes with glazing bars; five windows are on the ground floor. One doorcase is of reeded wood, with a cornice and paterae, and contains a modern door. Two plain modern doors are also present. The west gable end has tumbled brickwork. Attached is a one-storey former stable range. Numbers 11 to 23 (odd), along with the Volunteer Inn (numbers 27 to 37 odd) and numbers 41 to 51 (odd) form a group, with numbers 27 to 33 (odd) being of local interest only.
