Description
The Flour Mill is an early 19th century or late 18th century tower windmill located on Market Lane. It is a seven-storey structure made of tarred brick, lacking a cap or sails. The building features round and segmental arched windows, a diagonal-set brick cornice, and formerly had a battlemented parapet. To the right, there is a penticed extension. Adjoining the mill is an L-plan building made of red brick with a hipped pantile roof, which has three storeys. The north-facing elevation of this building includes one segmental-headed window and a hatch door on the two storeys above a flat carriage entry and door. The side elevation has three segmental-headed windows on the two storeys above two doors and one window, along with a carriage entry. At the time of the survey, some windows were broken or boarded. The Flour Mill and the properties numbered 3 to 9 (odd) form a group, with No 5 having local interest only.
