Description
Ivy House is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a later 18th-century barn that is now part of the house, along with 19th-century extensions and alterations at the rear. The building is constructed of brick, with the earlier part of the house in English bond and originally colourwashed throughout. It features a pantile roof and has a U-shaped plan, comprising an original three-room section with a lobby entry to the left of the center, a barn extension to the left, and rear extensions at each end.
The house is two storeys high and has five first-floor windows. The entrance includes a recessed six-fielded-panel door, with the top two panels glazed. To the left of the door is one 12-pane sliding sash window, and to the right are two sliding sash windows with a blocked opening in between. The first floor has a mix of two- and three-light sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The building is adorned with a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice, and features brick coped and tumbled gables on the right and on the extension, which has a more steeply pitched roof. There is an axial stack and an end stack to the right. The left return of the house has three-light sliding sash windows on both the ground and first floors. The interior has not been investigated.
