Description
This granary, built in the late 18th century, is located approximately 40 metres north-east of Pond Farmhouse. Constructed from orange-brown brick and topped with a pantile roof, it features a rectangular, single-room plan and stands two storeys high. The south side has a blocked central entrance and a single first-floor opening, along with a three-course first-floor band and a central first-floor board door with a lintel at eaves level. The building is adorned with a stepped and cogged brick eaves cornice and crow-stepped gables.
On the west gable end, there is a central board stable door beneath a timber lintel, a first-floor band, and a small wooden slatted ventilator hatch to the first floor beneath a segmental arch, along with a single-course band at eaves level. The east gable end features similar brick bands and a first-floor opening. The adjoining ranges are not included in the listing. This granary is noted as the least altered example in the Isle of Axholme among the few remaining small two-storey granaries with crow-stepped gables.
