Description
Mount Pleasant Mill is a windmill tower built in 1875, as indicated by the inscription 'E L 1875' on the ground floor door lintel. The mill is constructed of tarred red brick and features a wooden cap. It has a circular shape and stands four storeys tall. There are two doors: one is located under the inscribed lintel and is accessed by 20th-century steps, while the other door is approached by a ramp. Each floor has two segmental-headed windows, all fitted with iron glazing bars and central hinged casements. The mill has a cogged eaves cornice and an ogee cap, which has been patched with an aluminium sheet. The cap includes a framework for a fan-tail, a cast-iron cross-tree, and a ball finial. Inside, the mill contains full working gear. The tower is a prominent feature in the surrounding landscape.
