Description

Haverstoe Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or early 18th century, which was encased in the late 19th century and underwent alterations and additions around 1960. The building features a timber frame that is encased in brick, with a brick extension, and is colourwashed throughout. It has a pantile roof and is rectangular in plan, comprising six bays of timber frame. The layout includes three rooms with a lobby-entry to the right of the centre, along with a single room addition and outhouses to the right. The cottage is a single storey with an attic and has three windows. Padstones are visible at the base of the wall. The entrance features a recessed board door with two 12-pane sliding sashes to the left, set beneath segmental brick arches, while a 20th-century casement window with glazing bars is to the right. There is also a 20th-century flat-roofed dormer with a casement. The roof is steeply pitched and has an axial stack. An attic window with a 12-pane sliding sash is located on the left return. The interior has not been fully investigated, but some features such as wall plates, tie beams, wall posts with mid-rails, and curved braces are exposed in the room to the left.
