Description
Nos. 27, 28, and 29 Lowgate are three houses, now functioning as two houses, built around 1800 and partly restored and altered around 1990. The buildings are constructed of brick, which is rendered and whitewashed, topped with a pantile roof featuring two gable stacks and a single ridge stack. They have wooden gutters and brackets. The structure is two storeys high with garrets and has a six-window range. Most windows are 16-pane sashes, with two blank windows each flanked by larger sashes. Below, there is a central door flanked by single sashes, and beyond that, there are single doors followed by more single sashes. The houses feature three pedimented wooden doorcases with 20th-century fielded six-panel doors and overlights. Each gable end has a two-light Yorkshire sash window in the garret.
