Description
Scorborough Hall is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later additions from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick, featuring slate and pantile roofs, along with stone dressings. The main part of the building is a single storey with attics and consists of 3½ bays. At the rear, there is a later two-storey, three-bay range beneath a double-span roof. The entrance features a four-panel door with an overlight that has a glazing bar, set within a pilastered doorcase with shaped brackets supporting the hood. To the extreme left, there is a glazed garden door from the 20th century. The house has three late 18th-century canted bays with sash windows that have glazing bars, all under low pedimented gables. The building includes axial stacks and has coped gables supported by shaped kneelers.
Inside, much of the interior was remodelled in the late 19th century; however, it retains a ground-floor room with pairs of heavy, crossing primary joists and a corner fireplace in a first-floor bedroom. It is likely that the current structure incorporates parts of an older building. The site is also moated.
