Description

No. 3 Southgate is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and has a cast Roman tile roof. The building is two storeys high and features four bays arranged in a 1:1:2 pattern. The entrance door consists of six beaded panels and includes a fanlight set in a panelled soffit and reveals. It is framed by a Doric doorcase with fluted pilasters and dosserets that support an open pediment adorned with mutules.

To the right, there is an early 20th-century shop front, while the other windows are 16-pane sashes, all equipped with sills and cambered channelled wedge lintels that have projecting keyblocks. The first floor also has similar 16-pane sashes throughout. A 20th-century roof dormer is present, and there are end and axial stacks. The left gable features raised coped detailing, while the right side has a hipped roof.
