Description
Church End Farmhouse is a house dating from 1619, with possible earlier origins, and features an 18th-century extension to what was once the main elevation. The building is constructed of ashlar and red brick in English bond, topped with pantiled roofs. It has two storeys and two bays. The structure includes a high chamfered plinth and stone quoins. The gable elevation features a 20th-century window on the ground floor set in an earlier window opening, with infill to the right and left, and a cyma recta moulding to the floating cornice. Above this is a datestone marked '1619'. The plain close verges add to its character. The left elevation, which was formerly the rear elevation, is symmetrical with a central 20th-century window on the ground floor, also with a cyma recta moulded floating cornice, flanked by large external stacks. These stacks have tumbled-in brick at the offsets, reduced upper sections, and paired brick chimneys shaped like stars. There is an inserted 20th-century window on the first floor. Extensions to the right are not of special interest.
