Description

The Lodge is a late 18th-century house located on Town Street in Shiptonthorpe. It is constructed of orange brick in an English garden wall bond and has a pantiled roof. The house follows a central direct entry plan and is two storeys high, with three bays. A six-panel bolection-moulded door is set within a late 19th-century pilastered doorcase featuring a dentilled cornice. Flanking the door are four-pane sashes with sills, all set beneath cambered arches. The first floor has three sixteen-pane sashes, also with sills and cambered arches. Chimneys are located at the ends of the building, with tumbled-in brick to raised gables.
