Description
The Old Rectory is a late 18th-century house located on Church Lane in Hotham. The building is constructed of rubble and has a graduated Westmorland slate roof. It features a central-hallway entry plan, with a three-bay central section flanked by single-bay gabled wings, the right wing being recessed. A six-fielded-panel door is set within a wooden porch, flanked by tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, all beneath flat stone arches. On the first floor of the central section, a sash window with glazing bars is flanked by tripartite sashes, again with flat stone arches. The flanking wings have tripartite sashes and Diocletian windows. The roof has gable coping, shaped kneelers, and end stacks. Inside, there is an open-string staircase with square-knop column-on-vase balusters and carved treadends. Six-fielded-panel doors are present on the ground floor, alongside stone flags to the hallway. A fluted fire surround is a feature of the drawing room.
