Description

Ravenspurn Cross is a medieval cross located in the grounds of Holyrood House, dating from the early 15th century. It was probably erected to commemorate the landing of the Duke of Lancaster at Ravenspurn, where it originally stood. The cross is made of ashlar and features a square four-step plinth, an octagonal base, and an octagonal cross shaft with a decorated capital. The cross is topped with an elaborate carved cross that includes figures, although it is now badly eroded. It is designated as Ancient Monument No. 132.
