Description
The former lock-up, now used as a storage shed, dates from around 1826. It is constructed of colour-washed brick in English garden wall bond, with stone dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a polygonal shape to fit its corner location, featuring rounded corners. There is an inserted double board door, which shows evidence of an earlier door with a massive stone lintel to the right. The first floor has an inserted fixed window with a flat stone arch, along with stone slit windows facing Cross Street and the right corner. The building has stepped eaves and a hipped roof. It was built as part of the original town shortly after the docks opened in 1826.
