Description

House. Dating from the early to mid-18th century, Chapel Farmhouse is constructed of red brick with a pantiled roof. The main portion of the house is two storeys and three bays wide, with a lower, two-storey, two-bay extension to the right. The central doorway is a 20th-century glazed door with a fanlight containing glazing bars, set within a segmental brick arch. This is flanked to the left by a nine-pane unequal sash window with glazing bars, also under a segmental brick arch, and to the right by a pair of sashes with glazing bars, similarly treated. On the first floor, a nine-pane unequal sash with a sill is positioned to the right, and a twelve-pane unequal sash with a sill to the left, both under segmental brick arches. The gables have tumbled-in brickwork. Internal end stacks are present. The extension to the right has double boarded doors to its right side, and a nine-pane unequal sash window with glazing bars under a segmental brick arch to its left. The first floor of the extension reveals a nine-pane unequal sash to the left and a sliding sash with glazing bars to the right, both also under segmental brick arches. The extension has end stacks, now reduced, with tumbled-in brick to the raised gables.
