Description

Springfield House is a late 18th-century farmhouse, with later additions and alterations including an early 19th-century wing and replacement windows. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is arranged in a T-shaped plan. The main range is two storeys high with four first-floor windows, and is adjoined to the right by a projecting range with two ground-floor windows. An off-centre entrance is marked by a six-panel door with a fanlight containing radial glazing bars, sheltered by a two-columned Doric porch with pilaster responds, frieze, cornice and blocking course. Twelve-pane sash windows are present throughout, with stone sills and channelled wedge lintels incorporating keystones. The ground floor has two windows to the left of the entrance and two in the projecting wing. The roof is hipped, and there are stacks to the side and front. Similar windows are visible on the garden front and the right return of the projecting wing.
