Description
Walkergate House, built around 1780, is a three-storey building made of red brick with a plain tile roof and painted wooden eaves cornice featuring ogee brackets. The house has a painted stone base and a cill string above the ground floor windows. It has five windows that have been resashed with plate glass, each with gauged flat arches and near flush frames. The wood doorcase includes an architrave, chambranles, a frieze with a central tablet, enriched consoles, and a dentil pediment. The door itself consists of six panels and has a fanlight above. The garden front mirrors the street front, and there is a discreet service wing. Inside, the Drawing Room showcases fine 'Adam' stucco panelling and decoration.
