Description
The Beverley Westwood Hospital, originally built in the mid-19th century, is a two-storey hospital building constructed from red brick with stone dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The design features a central block flanked by projecting wings that are set at right angles. Each side of the building has four windows with plain stone surrounds and hung sashes that include glazing bars. The ground floor windows are similar in style but larger. On the first floor, the central window is located in a gabled projection, which is topped with a stone finial. The ends of the wings feature 6-light mullion and transom windows with cusped heads on the first floor. The central projection is accentuated by stone rusticated quoins and a moulded gable that also has a stone finial and a bell. Below the clock, there is a rounded oriel window with eight mullion and transom lights. The doorway has a cusped head and is framed by a stone architrave, with three steps leading up to two arched doors. The main block includes mezzanine windows at the ends. There are additions to the left return of the building that are not considered to be of special interest.
