Description

The churchyard cross, located approximately 1 metre to the west of the tower in St Mary's Churchyard, was created around 1898 by Temple Moore for Sir Tatton Sykes, 5th Baronet. It is made of sandstone ashlar and stands about 2 metres high. The cross features a square plinth and a stepped octagonal shaft that is decorated with quatrefoils at the base. It has a moulded cornice that supports the remains of the cross head. This cross is included for its group value.
