Description

The Old Rectory is a house that likely dates from the mid-18th century, with later additions on the right and a projecting porch added in the 20th century. It is constructed of reddish-grey brick and features pantiled roofs, presenting an irregular plan. The main section of the building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an additional cross-range to the left that has its own gabled roof.

On the main range, there is a canted bay window on the left that extends the full height of the house, featuring sashes with glazing bars only on the sides. To the right, the fenestration is scattered and has been significantly altered, including sashes with glazing bars and a small window that likely replaced the former central door. A first-floor band is present, with sashes featuring glazing bars on either side of the canted bay, a large 16-pane sash with a sill in the center, and another sash with glazing bars and a sill on the right. The eaves cornice is stepped in brick, and there are raised coped gables with an end stack on the left and a front roof stack on the right.

The gabled range to the left has double sashes with glazing bars set in a shallow projecting bay on the ground floor. The first floor features a 16-pane sash with a sill beneath a cambered gauged brick arch. The gables are raised and coped, supported by shaped kneelers. There are broad side-wall external stacks on the left, which have been reduced to eaves level. The building is included for its group value.
