Description

The building at 47 and 48 Saturday Market in Beverley dates to the early 19th century. It is a three-storey structure built of red brick, with some sections painted. The roof is covered in Westmorland slates and features widely spaced paired eaves brackets. Architectural details include a vase-shaped fluted lead rainwater head and fall pipe. The building has three windows each with rendered lintels and hung sash windows with glazing bars. Painted stone cill strings are present on the first and second floors. The shop fronts were updated in the 1870s with plate glass. A house entrance is marked by a wooden case featuring pilasters and a dentil entablature. A modern fascia has been added above what was formerly a butcher’s shop.
