Description

The building at 86 and 88 Lairgate, Beverley, consists of two houses built around 1800 to 1802 for A Peacock. These three-storey buildings are constructed of white brick, topped with a hipped roof covered in pantiles. The building features wooden rainwater pipes and eaves fascia. Each house has two windows, with the outer windows being narrower than the central one. The windows have painted rendered flat arches, and the sash windows contain glazing bars. The doorcases have panelled pilasters that support fluted consoles, above which the entablature has a delicate dentil cornice. Each doorway is topped with a fanlight featuring radial bars, and the doors themselves have six fielded panels. An "Adam" style fireplace is present.
