Description
A row of houses dating from around 1840 to 1850, located on Railway Street in Beverley. The houses are divided into two groups based on their brickwork: numbers 20 to 28 are built of red brick, while numbers 30 to 36 are in grey brick. A painted stone or stucco band runs along the first-floor cills. The roofs are slate, with flat eaves supported by brackets. Numbers 30 to 36 are slightly taller, with an eaves band and decorative bead mould brackets to number 30. Each house has a single window, except for numbers 26 and 34, which have two. The windows are recessed sash windows, with glazing bars to numbers 20 to 28, all set within flat stucco arches. The arches to numbers 30 to 36 have incised voussoirs. The doorways to numbers 20 to 28 feature slender pilasters, while those to numbers 30 to 36 have broader, plain pilasters. The cornices of numbers 20 to 28 are detailed with small modillions. Numbers 32 and 34 have a paired doorway, each with a four-panel door and a rectangular fanlight.
